A Health and Safety Advisor position has become available within Ingram Micro and it’s the ideal opportunity to develop your Health and Safety career and gain great experience.

This is a part time role (20 hours per week) and is located at our Distribution Center in Manukau.

As the Health and Safety Advisor, you would be responsible for the monitoring and controlling of our Health, Safety and Environment function for our New Zealand sites, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, company Health and Safety policies and objectives, plus the running of a safe and compliant operation.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Providing Health and Safety (H & S) advice and support to management and staff, to enhance the H & S culture of our organisation
  • Management and maintenance of documentation and record keeping to ensure all H & S legislative requirements are met
  • Ensure all company, H&S administration and internal reporting requirements are adhered to
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safety strategies based on trend analysis and in response to incident and hazard investigation outcomes
  • Contribute to and develop H & S Management Systems to ISO 45001 - Occupational health and safety accreditation level
  • Devise, implement and support a risk assessment programme to be controlled by managers, providing assistance and advice where necessary
  • Support thorough incident investigations that identify root causes and / or latent failures, provide recommendations and deliver agreed actions to prevent re-occurrence
  • Management of ACC claims, light duties, back to work and employee rehabilitation in conjunction with HR
  • Ensure a program exists to allow our associates to receive safety training on a regular basis, updating where necessary
  • Support internal and external audits when required
  • Participate in site walk arounds and site observations to promote site safety on a regular basis
  • Successful applicant will have :

  • Relevant qualifications and / or certificates in H & S
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a H & S role in a blue- and white-collar environment, and preferable experience in implementing H & S programmes
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand H & S legislation, H & S Management Systems and criteria for accreditation to ISO 45001 -
  • Occupational health and safety level

  • A mature approach, discretion and sound judgment, with a strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding of the management storage and transportation of Dangerous Good (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent relationship management and customer service skills
  • Very good Microsoft office applications skills (required) and SAP / JDE Systems Experience (preferred)
