Through recent acquisitions, the Azure for Operators (A4O) organisation within Microsoft leads the way in cloud native communication software, with award winning solutions providing highly scalable and fault tolerant systems that run right in the core of over 1,000 service providers and mobile operators.

You will become part of a global team responsible for architecting and delivering mobile core solutions using cloud native technologies.

We are looking for a Project Manager who will be responsible for providing project management support to Microsoft engagements for the New Zealand based A4O Engineering Team, working with other engineering teams and product line management teams across geographic locations.

You will be performing project governance and provide support in critical areas of the overall project plans and road map, covering management of product delivery, reporting, resourcing, and helping to identify, pursue, and close project risks and issues.

    Responsibilities

    The Project Manager has the responsibility of providing support for overall delivery and execution of the product development.

    The role will require collaboration across multiple engineering and business teams within the organization.

    Risk Management Managing and ensuring that all potentials risks and issues are tracked and communicated to stakeholders with correct owners identified and working on putting in resolution plans.

    Quality Management Ensuring that while focusing to keep schedules on track the focus is also on providing high quality deliverables, specifically around stability and security.

    Working with the engineering teams to ensure the execution of all project quality bars are executed, and all products have passed the levels required.

    Schedule Management Ensure all project milestones, deliverables, release dates etc. are met and in case of any variance, stakeholders are informed and understand the impacts.

    Status Update Status reports to stakeholders using agreed Microsoft project management tools, providing sufficient details for clear and efficient communication.

    Others Resourcing, costing where needed, and resolving general project management related issues that may arise. Assisting engineering teams and their leads with their project governance and tracking to deliver new products, product features and enhancements within the agile environment.

    Supporting sprint backlog grooming, story estimations, effort tracking and sprint burndown tracking. Ensuring communication and understanding of inter-team dependencies are understood and managed.

    You will be someone who enjoys working with and enabling teams to feel successful, through providing regular and actionable feedback, coaching, and modelling to team the need for continuous improvement and development of a growth mindset.

    Qualifications

    Solid understanding of and experience in quality assurance, delivery excellence, and agile development practices.

    Capable of building a better organization by sharing and contributing to a committed and respectful management team.

    Influencing stakeholders to achieve impact through collaboration, presence and good communication skills.

    Guiding teams with sound decision making through rational and balanced judgment.

    Customer focused, displayed through internal critical thinking and questioning.
