We're gearing up for our busiest period with summer around the corner and will be employing multiple Deckhands on a fixed term part-time basis for a period of three to six months.

Ideally you'll be able to start early October and work through till approximately the end of February 2022.

These roles are an add on to the permanent full-time team, hence you'll need to be able to and willing to work 10 - 20 hours per week (shift based with a rotating roster).

As it's peak season you will be expected to work over the Christmas and New Year period.

About the role

Reporting to the Crew Development Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring we deliver an outstanding experience and safe journey for our customers.

In this role you'll take full accountability for ensuring our vessels are well maintained, and all crew onboard are trained and operating at a high standard.

You'll be a real champion of the customer experience and motivate your crew to go above and beyond.

Key tasks and responsibilities :

  • Provide safe and efficient operation of the vessels
  • Lead your crew to a high standard and motivate them to work as a team
  • Provide crew training and guidance;
  • Provide excellent customer service to your passengers
  • Manage passenger and crew safety on board;
  • Perform day-to-day upkeep on your vessel
  • Maintain communication with the operations team and other departments within Fullers360.
  • About you

  • You must hold a current NZ SRL ticket (Skipper Restricted Limits) with endorsements for vessels over 24 meters, vessels
  • A current New Zealand Marine Engineering MEC5 ticket is highly advantageous
  • You’ll be experienced working on high speed passenger vessels
  • You pride yourself on providing an outstanding customer experience
  • You have a proven track record and ability to successfully lead and support your crew
  • Due to changing weather conditions and variable operational requirements, a flexible and positive attitude are essential
  • You are committed to continuous improvement.
  • As operations run 7 days a week, this position is on a rotating roster basis and will include weekend shifts and public holidays.

    Due to the nature of shift work involved, applicants are required to have a full driver's license and their own transport.
