  • About the Team

    South Community Mental Health Team provide care, support and treatment for people experiencing moderate to severe mental illness.

    About the Role and You

    We now have a great opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the team on a permanent basis. In this role you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team based out of Wakari Hospital, working in a case management capacity to deliver a supportive service to our clients.

    You’ll work autonomously but will be well embedded in a team of equally dedicated mental health professionals. We need you to be able to demonstrate your effective communication skills and your ability to think on your feet while exuding calmness under pressure.

    Your responsibilities include delivering focused nursing care / treatment and provision of effective case management to a specific patient caseload.

    We will support you by providing an orientation to the role and continuing education and training opportunities. Participating in regular clinical supervision is an expectation of this position.

    You will have at least two years experience of working with people with serious mental illness. It is also preferable that you have community mental health experience as well as previous experience of working with patients with dual diagnosis (mental illness / intellectual disability).

    You will have previously demonstrated a commitment to best practice standards and your model of practice will be inclusive of the seven Real Skills of Let’s get real ().

    You will also hold a strong sense of self’ and a demonstrated commitment to working cohesively in a large and dynamic multidisciplinary team.

    To be successful in this role you will have relevant community and / or recent acute inpatient experience and the ability to meet the demands of a busy workload to a high standard and have a current full driver’s license.

    You must be a Registered Nurse, with a current APC and have experience in working within a mental health sector with adults and their families and a clean drivers license.
