  • The opportunity

    As Category Manager looking after the cheese category you will develop the category strategy and influence category growth to optimise business performance.

    Reporting to the Group Category and Activation Manager you hold ownership of category expertise, category growth strategies, executional growth strategies at point of purchase, revenue growth management and customer engagement.

    This is a unique and varied role looking after an exciting category with iconic kiwi brands providing you with the opportunity to shape your career with New Zealand's largest FMCG business.

    Key responsibilities will see you getting stuck into :

  • Category Development - Own and develop the long-term category growth strategy and executional strategy / point of purchase vision.
  • Category Expertise - own and develop the monthly CRM (category health check) process, understanding category performance and insights with recommended actions communicated to key stakeholders for implementation across key accounts, field, and marketing.
  • Pricing and Promotional Optimisation - develop pricing and promotion strategies to optimise value growth and category profitability considering quarterly base commodity price movements.
  • Revenue Growth Management - lead strategic price pack architecture and promotional effectiveness optimisation to deliver joint value for the category.
  • Category NPD - Work collaboratively with marketing as part of the NPD process to deliver innovation that delivers category incrementality.
  • Track post launch implementation results alongside competitor activity and communicate actions to key stakeholders.

  • Customer Engagement - Lead customer category reviews and deliver objective recommendations to optimise category growth.
  • Provide category gap analysis through regular contact with customers to agreed cadence and timelines.

    What you'll bring and develop

    You can come from a variety of backgrounds (e.g. sales, marketing, finance, shopper) but you will have a passion for what makes shoppers and consumers tick.

    FMCG industry experience and understanding of category management and pricing and promotional optimisation will help you succeed and get you up to speed in no time.

    With ease, you will establish trusted relationships with key stakeholders and you'll be a great influencer as required. Additionally your ability to engage with customers and make them feel valued is second to none.

    Skills and Experience :

  • Sales and Marketing experience preferably within a large and complex FMCG business.
  • Understand category dynamics, analysis & interpretation.
  • Ability to sell strategy and plans to others and influence their prioritisation and execution in the market.
  • Work proactively, be well organised and planned and understand customers.
  • Dedicated to meeting the needs of customers, establishes and maintains relationships and earns respect.
