Purpose of the role :

As an O&M / Rehabilitation Instructor you will work directly with our clients who are blind, deafblind or visually impaired, assisting them with becoming more independent.

You’ll be dealing with clients of all ages (children & adults) and at various life stages, conducting functional low vision and clear assessments of their ability to travel safely and confidently within their community and the areas they wish to access, as well as recommending and training on suitable mobility aids.

What we are looking for :

As well as a relevant qualification, you will be familiar working with people who are blind, deafblind or visually impaired, demonstrating your ability to work safely with clients of all ages, some of which have complex needs. We are looking for :

  • A recognised qualification in rehabilitation for people who are blind or have low vision with an emphasis on O&M and ADL
  • Experience in the delivery of Orientation and Mobility (O&M) and Adaptive Daily Living programme (ADL)
  • Knowledge and skills in working with children, adults and elderly
  • Able to work effectively with people of all ages, from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
  • You’ll be warm, enthusiastic and approachable, someone who can build meaningful relationships with our clients
  • Strong planning skills including sound time management skills
  • You will be part of an innovative, creative, and motivated team where we celebrate diversity while working together to make the team as effective as possible in order to deliver a first class service.
