This is a newly created role and the purpose is to lead the BA function within the Business Technology division to deliver successful and quality outcomes that meet the needs of our customers and organisational objectives.

Always keeping an eye on the big picture, the Business Analysis Manager will focus on defining and implementing business strategies, in consideration of Technology strategy, the technology roadmap, and approaches / deliverables for all stages of the project lifecycle.

What you will do : Leadership


  • Provide leadership for the ongoing development of the Business Analysis practice, including the implementation of strategic approaches, business processes, procedures, the BA framework and controls that relate to team activities
  • Grow and develop BA team capability to support Agile ways of working, including development of T shape resource types
  • Lead, coach and develop the BA team, ensuring that capability and succession plans are in place. Build BA team capability and capacity in order to meet the business and project needs including the recruitment of permanent and contingent workforce and vendor / partner capability and performance
  • Drive a high performance culture within the team, in line with the Agile / Lean mind-set, and with a focus on continued learning and innovation
  • Planning

  • Understand the strategic needs, goals and objectives of customers
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the identification and allocation of appropriate resource, the planning and time estimation for business analyst activities, and setting of priorities across all work
  • Work across the Technology team to get a view of future work to inform planning
  • Work with Project Managers to allocate team members to work requests against priorities, and supplement with 3rd party resources when required
  • Delivery

  • Lead the design and implementation of new approaches and measure their effectiveness
  • Maintain an overall awareness of projects and initiatives and possible impacts on overall deliverables, and ensure synergies and compromises are explored and implemented where required
  • Oversee management of 3rd party resource, being managed by Project Managers, whilst engaged in Business Analyst activities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance for the building of business cases, and definition of benefits and requirements along with UAT processes and plans
  • Process

  • Implement processes, procedures and controls that support the BA area and are aligned with Technology and the organisations overall strategic direction
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the wider business to ensure the alignment of outcomes to their needs
  • Provide expert advice to the BA team on the shaping and analysis of new initiatives, requiring conceptual and strategic thinking

    Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Experienced and effective team manager
  • Proficient in business case development
  • Experience in leading and implementing Agile transformations and working with / in Agile teams
  • Significant experience in requirements elicitation and management, and business analysis
  • Business process modelling capability
  • Proven ability to deliver on time and to quality
  • Solid understanding and experience of industry standard SDLC methodologies
  • Solid knowledge of organisational Technology systems and business processes preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Role Related Experience

  • 5+ Years’ experience in : Financial services / Insurance sector in similar role preferredCorporate Senior Business Analyst role or equivalentMentoring and coaching a teamBuilding senior stakeholder relationshipsBA and Project methodologies and frameworks
  • Knowledge and experience in Process Improvement / Lean & Six Sigma preferred
  • Highly motivated to deliver successful outcomes
  • Qualifications

  • Business or IT related tertiary qualification
  • IIBA Certification (CBAP) or equivalent
