Are you looking to make a difference for tamariki and their whaanau? An opportunity has arisen to lead and support the Occupational Therapy service within Kidz First Community Child Development Team (CDT).

The team is based at Kidz First Community Health in Manukau, South Auckland. In this role you will be supported by a team of Occupational Therapists, a Professional Leader and a Team Leader.

The roleYou will work in partnership with the patients, whaanau and other health care providers in order to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate outcomes of care.

The Kidz First Child Development Service is a multidisciplinary community-based team who provide therapy and social work to assist children with special needs and their family / whaanau to achieve their full potential in their daily lives.

We work with children in their homes as well as schools, kindergartens and clinics.Children under our service have a range of diagnoses including, but not limited to, cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, muscular dystrophy, chromosomal abnormities and spina bifida.

We also provide therapy for children with a neurodevelopmental diagnosis who have had orthopaedic intervention, including Botox injections and muscle lengthening.

As the Occupational Therapy Senior in this team, you will work with children aged 2 years old through to 16 years old to assess and provide treatment to improve their fine motor and self-care abilities and improve functional performance in their home environment through housing modifications and equipment prescriptions.

As Senior you will oversee and provide clinical oversight / supervision to Occupational Therapists within the CDT service, manage case allocations and service provision, whilst still maintaining a reduced clinical case load of your own.

Manage and grade all referrals to the CDT service that need Occupational Therapy intervention within the MDT setting.You will work alongside all the other Senior Clinicians contributing and participate in service design and delivery.

The preferred candidate will be someone who is an excellent communicator whilst honouring cultural diversity. An ability to effectively organise your caseload, model best practice, the ability to provide clinical support to others whilst prioritising tasks, would be imperative in order to be successful in this role.
