Our aspiration is to have Zero Waste by 2040 which would see us turning waste into resources. We are currently seeking a part time ( 20 hours a week ) WasteWise Advisor to deliver community programmes that support the Waste Management and Minimization Plan (WMMP) at a regional level.
Daily, you will directly engage with communities, communicating messages around council's new waste services to ensure people know how to use them.
This will involve being in contact with Aucklanders from different cultural backgrounds and having the ability to speak a different language will be an advantage in this role.
You will also be educating communities about how their waste minimisation behaviours at home, such as reusing, composting, recycling and preventing food waste, contributes towards the Zero Waste goal.
You could be doing this in several ways, from going door to door, hosting workshops, and staffing displays at local markets, roadshows or community open days to answering questions via phone or email.
He kōrero mōu : About youYou are a people person who is comfortable striking up conversations with strangers. People describe you as confident and a professional, persuasive communicator.
You will also have a passion for the environment, sustainability and a desire to see people's attitudes and behaviours change.
As this role will require you to travel throughout Auckland, you will need a valid and clean full New Zealand driver's licence.
