GeoNet is the destination on the web New Zealanders go to get the latest on the country's natural hazards such as earthquakes and volcanic activity.
The Data Science Platform team is a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary, DevOps team, working primarily with Open Source Software, to ensure that GeoNet continues to deliver information to the public and data to an international community of scientists, in a timely manner.
We strive to manage all infrastructure as code and coding for failure, using a mix of existing DevOps technologies and strategies, as well as our own bespoke software.
We are seeking a DevOps Automation Engineer to maintain and develop the core systems and support systems used by GeoNet, to support our immediate internal users and help keep GeoNet operational.
You will likely have a background as an experienced high-performing Linux systems administrator, or as a software engineer or developer who likes to get code and applications to production faster and more sustainably.
We would expect you to relish a technical challenge, have strong problem solving skills, and appreciate consistency. We value staff who show a willingness to learn and stay up to date with new technology.
On top of the technical skills we need, you'll also need to work on your own initiative as well as take instruction from a range of staff.
