Mō te tūnga About the role

The Senior Advisor Portfolio Communications (Māori) will support programmes internally and externally with high quality communications to enable effective and concise information flow in-line with best practice that best reflect the ambitions and mission of Oranga Tamariki.

You will play a key role in improving Oranga Tamariki brand and reputation by providing effective communication planning and strategic advice to business groups and leaders, ensuring we providing key content in an tactful, appropriate and respectful way.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu What you will bring

Key requirements of the role include :

Sound understanding of communication best practices and planning, with a minimum 5 years operating at a senior communications level

Deeply rooted in te Ao Māori with a sound knowledge of Tikanga and Te Reo

A solid understanding of machinery of government

Experience supporting leaders and business groups with strategic communication advice

Excellent writing and storytelling skills

Strong communication, problem solving, organisational and delegation skills

A track record of delivering communications products that have measurable success

Excellent relationship management and effective communication particularly with colleagues stakeholders, and leadership

Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
