The Opportunity Deloitte New Zealand's National Tax team is widely regarded as experts and leaders in their field. We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our Auckland based National Tax team supporting the tax and private team.

You will be an experienced tax professional wanting to take the next step in your career with a leading brand.As this is an internal role, your clients will be the Tax & Private Partners and staff of Deloitte New Zealand.

As a Tax Manager, you will enjoy and thrive leading others, supporting our team to make an impact that matters and thereby make a real contribution to the growth of our successful national team of tax & private professionals.

During your tenure as a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring tax developments, identifying and planning relevant content, liaising within National Tax and our tax & private teams based across New Zealand, identifying and coordinating training opportunities and drafting both internally and externally focused publications.

You’ll be helping our staff working on New Zealand’s start-ups and high-growth private businesses through to some of New Zealand’s largest businesses.

You will demonstrate and develop your capabilities in the following areas :

  • Applying knowledge of current and pending tax legislation and tax policy developments.
  • Fact based decision making by using the appropriate research techniques and skills.
  • Advising on a wide range of business tax matters.
  • Taking responsibility for creating and delivering training materials.
  • Acting as a role model and recognising others for the impact they make.
  • Developing high-performing people and teams through providing challenging and meaningful opportunities.
  • Delivering exceptional client service and driving high performance from people while fostering collaboration across the business.
  • Influencing clients, teams, and individuals positively, leading by example and establishing confident relationships with senior people.
  • Aligning people to objectives and setting priorities and direction.
  • About you :

  • 5 years+ work experience in an accounting firm or corporate tax environment.
  • A professional qualification in law or accounting.
  • A strong understanding of end to end tax processes & the NZ tax environment.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent team player and proven leadership and management skills.
  • Results driven, client & detail oriented.
  • Ability to demonstrate management flair, drive and identify business development opportunities.
  • A drive to develop people and grow their career.
  • Experience in developing and delivering effective training materials would be an advantage.
