Southern Cross' North Harbour hospital is looking for Healthcare Assistants to join their fun, dynamic and professional Ward team.

North Harbour offers a wide range of surgical services and post-operative care to around 6,500 patients each year. Our surgical specialities include General surgery, Gynaecology, Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology and Robotics.

We currently have part time (starting at 0.6 FTE) and full time Healthcare Assistant positions available in our busy Ward.

You will work as part of a tight knit multi-disciplinary team offering support and assistance as required to the ward staff contributing to the smooth running of the ward department.

The role encompasses keeping service areas tidy, restocked and assisting staff and patients to ensure our service is delivered to a high standard and involvement in hands on care of surgical patients assisting with showering, mobilising, observations and meals.

North Harbour Hospital has 8 operating theatres, a 14 bedded PACU, a modern well equipped day stay facility unit and a 70 bedded ward which includes a 4 bedded intermediate care facility (ICF).

At North Harbour you will be given the opportunity to advance your surgical experience, our theatre nurses provide surgical assisting to our Consultants in the operating department.

To be a part of the team you will need :

  • Previous experience within a healthcare setting (essential), preferably in a hospital environment
  • Excellent communication skills and be a team player
  • To be flexible / adaptable and to respond positively to the changing needs of the business
  • Hold relevant residency status to work in New Zealand
