Job Description

The RoleKā Huanui a Tāhuna is an alliance established in November between Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, along with four design and construction companies - Beca, WSP, Downer New Zealand and Fulton Hogan.

The programme of works includes Queenstown Town Centre Street Upgrades, Queenstown Town Centre Arterial Stage 1, Lakeview Infrastructure, NZ Upgrade Programme Queenstown Package, and Wakatipu Active Travel Network.

This exciting and challenging programme of work aims to improve safety and accessibility, enable an improved public transport system, provide more options for walking and cycling, and benefit the community and its visitors.

With delivery across Tāhuna Queenstown, each project involves upgrading underground infrastructure followed by enhancing the street to make a safer and more inviting environment for pedestrians, cyclists and people using public transport all part of building the Queenstown Town Centre Masterplan.

The programme will play a vital role in helping to stimulate the wider Whakatipu economy and support the region to recover from the effects of COVID-19.

govt.nz)We are looking for a Senior Surveyor to join our team and help shape the future of Queenstown. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves the outdoors to be part of a growing and influential project which has 2-3 years of work planned with the potential for more.

We are always trying to innovate and use technology as much as possible to work more effectively, so if you are passionate and keen to get stuck in, this would be a good fit for you.

Be an integral part of our team and enjoy liaising closely with internal customers and external contractors, designers and machine operators, as well as mentoring junior surveyors and survey technicians.

You’ll provide day to day practical survey solutions, create designs on CAD software, complete data processing and asbuilt reporting, ensuring precision set out for our project in accordance with project guidelines.

What we need from youOur ideal candidate has a strong understanding and working knowledge of survey methodologies. You will have a proven track record in the completion of major projects with exposure to roading and services work and be ready for your next challenge to further your career.

As well as being keen to be part of this exciting project, you will also be able to demonstrate the following : An appropriate tertiary qualification in either Surveying or Engineering with additional experience in surveyingMinimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar level roleThe ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levelsStrong commitment to our Living Safely health and safety policyExcellent communication and experience dealing with both clients and the general publicExperience preferred in Auto Desk Civil 3d, knowledge of 12d and Trimble business center and Arc GIS will also be an advantageAbility to maintain and verify the survey control network in accordance with the project requirementsManagement of survey data and contributing to drawing asbuilts and accurate monthly quantity measuresA Full, clean NZ Class 1 Driving LicenceFulton Hogan Philosophy We build and maintain critical infrastructure that connects and enhances communities across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific.
