About the Company

Owned by farmers and working for farmers, Ravensdown Aerowork is our stand-alone agricultural aviation business providing aerial application throughout New Zealand.

As a cooperative we're all about supporting our customers through essential farm inputs, smart people using smart tools with the latest in science in mind and our shareholders' interests at heart.

  • With an annual turnover of approximately $17m; over approx. 50 staff across 10 locations from south of Waikato to Otago;
  • the Business Manager - Aerowork is an exceptional opportunity to lead a core business stream in a highly regarded and successful organisation.

    About the Role

    Reporting to the Aerowork Board (CEO Ravensdown and General Manager, Supply Chain) and a direct report to the GM Supply Chain, this senior leadership role is responsible for setting the direction of Aerowork.

    You'll develop business strategy and lead significant capital programmes to bring it to life. Based at the core of the operations in Whanganui, this role has accountability for business operations, engineering, HSE, marketing, culture and leadership.

    Leading a large, highly qualified team; developing and utilising industry-leading technology; you'll drive a business that provides outstanding service across the network, whilst developing and maintaining relationships with industry bodies such as the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and other stakeholders.

    Being commercially savvy with the ability to think and plan strategically, problem-solving and continuous innovation is what gets you up in the morning.

    Your ability to engage, influence and partner with others will be key to success in this role.

    Your Background and Skills :


  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., engineering, business finance, aviation etc.)
  • 10+ years broad leadership experience, including leading geographically and functionally diverse teams
  • Industry experience in either aviation, manufacturing, engineering, logistics or an SME
  • An understanding of NZ health and safety legal frameworks
  • Leadership capability and understanding
  • Experience working within a regulatory framework
  • Sound financial acumen and business management knowledge
  • Strong relationship building skills with customers and teams
  • Astute communication skills, thoughtful and influential in presenting business cases
  • Desirable

  • Aerial spreading industry experience is advantageous
  • Knowledge of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations
  • Breadth of experience across multiple industries in a variety of different functional positions
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry
