Senior Policy Advisor / Policy Advisor
Full-time, events based position
The National Party Leader's Office has a vacancy for a Policy Advisor or Senior Policy Advisor (depending on your level of experience).
Reporting to the Chief Policy Advisor, you will enjoy a collaborative work culture and provide expert analysis and advice to the National Leader and MPs across particular subject areas.
Some of your responsibilities will include :
Work closely with MPs to analyse and develop responses to policy announcements from the Government and other external parties
Provide evaluative thinking and evidence-based policy analysis and advice to help set and implement National's strategy
Manage the planning, research, writing and presentation of briefings and policy papers
Keep abreast of daily news and topical issues
Work with MPs to develop oral questions in Parliament
Key skills :
Strong analysis problem solving skills - able to come up to speed quickly with new issues, examine them from all sides, and recommend an evidence-based solution
Very strong writing ability, complemented with sound numerical skills
Political acumen and a good understanding of the New Zealand parliamentary environment, as well as party policies and positions
The ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and manage competing demands for your time
Self-motivated with a good attitude and willingness to work hard in a challenging but stimulating environment
This is an events based, fixed term role. The Parliamentary Service appoints on merit and is committed to EEO and good employer principles.
