About the Regional Skills Leadership Groups (RSLG)
Interim Regional Skills Leadership Groups (RSLGs) have been established to understand current regional workforce and skills needs across 15 regions in Aotearoa.
In the second part of 2021 interim RSLGs will be replaced with permanent Groups that will look at the long term workforce and skills needs regions, key opportunities and barriers to get there, and work with regional partners to influence change at a regional level..
The RSLG feature people from all walks of life - regional industry leaders, economic development agencies, worker representatives, iwi, and government representatives.
The RSLGs are a key part of the Reform of Vocational Education, as the Tertiary Education Commission take our advice into account when making investment decisions.
They also link with the recently-announced reform of temporary work visas. Planning at a regional level can help address skills shortages in the short term, while facilitating the training of more New Zealanders with the skills our workforces need.
