    We are looking for a driven, energetic and down to earth People Advisor with a strong business and customer focus to join our People team based in Port Chalmers, Dunedin.

    About the role

    As our People Advisor you will be responsible for providing generalist people support and advice to all areas of the business including the effective and efficient delivery of processes such as recruitment, payroll, workforce planning, employment relations, and project work to support the delivery of the People Strategy.

    About you

    Key attributes include having a positive attitude, being resilient, and above all having plenty of initiative. This is a broad and diverse role and is best suited to someone who is a self-starter.

    With your general business acumen, innovation and fresh-thinking your advice will be focused towards achieving the best outcomes possible.

    You’ll have experience working collaboratively in a people team environment.

    You’ll be eager to learn and enhance your career, and ready to take the next step into an advisory position or to continue to develop your advisory skills.

    To be successful in this position you will have the following :

  • Tertiary qualification in HR, business or other related discipline and / or similar work experience desirable
  • An understanding or exposure to employment relations legislation
  • A pragmatic and solution orientated mindset
  • Strong influencing and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong customer focus, and proven experience building relationships with key stakeholders
  • Alignment to organisation values

    Heads up :

  • The successful candidate does need to have a degree of flexibility as the Port operates 24 / 7, 365 days a year
  • A full clean NZ Drivers licence is essential
  • You must be able to pass Ministry of Justice, ACC checks and a medical which includes a drug and alcohol test as part of our recruitment process
