Senior Analyst Advisor Evidence and Insights Set the foundations for high quality insights and best practice Foster continuous improvement in the way we use data and research to inform MBIEs decision making Support MBIEs organisational priorities with your research evaluation and analytical advice and expertise About the branch The Evidence and Insights branch was established in August 2018 and sits within the Corporate Governance and Information Group CGI The Evidence and Insights branch is responsible for the full range of research evaluation and data analysis functions across all of MBIEs areas of responsibility providing the good quality evidence that MBIE requires to inform its decisions About the roles These two roles are in the Strategy and Stewardship team The teams role is to make sure that the Evidence and Insights branch is well positioned to continue producing high quality products and services and meet more complex and enduring needs in the future We are a multidisciplinary team whose work covers four key themes Efficiency capability and continuous improvement Developing and implementing standards and processes Advising and responding eg providing analytical and evaluation expertise for organisationwide initiatives Building an Evidence Strategy and exploring innovative approaches for complex and emerging topics What you will bring to the role Are you looking for the opportunity to influence and lead bestpractice across a group of evidence professionals Are you up for the challenge of asking and answering the tough questions about how the Evidence and Insights branch can improve how it shapes actionable evidence for decision making We are seeking analysts who have a passion for influencing and implementing best practice across teams and business units This is an opportunity to stretch your skills on a much greater scale if you have developed quality assurance frameworks and processes and successfully implemented these in your team or organisation Importantly if you understand that people matter more for changing practice than either technology or process you will thrive in this role You will be an experienced practitioner with a wealth of experience in working with data and statistics across a range of different subject areas and types of customers You will have strong knowledge of data analytics tools including R and can help lead initiatives to embed good practice and standards and build capability now and for the future Why work for us MBIE is one of New Zealands largest most influential and most diverse public sector agencies This means that we are able to offer significant opportunities for developing experience across a broad variety of areas We aim to create a culture where our people are empowered to bring fresh ideas and perspectives and to develop new approaches We also take the time to foster a work environment that is enjoyable for all This means we like to collaborate support and encourage our people encourage excellence and innovation and take the time to have some fun and celebrate our successes Skills and Experience We are keen to hear from you if you have A proven track record of making quality improvements and lifting technical capability within or across teams Exceptional teamwork stakeholder engagement and collaborative abilities and a willingness to share knowledge with others A repertoire of skills for facilitating workshops including codesign process mapping or value stream mapping and or investment logic mapping Excellent project planning and management skills Broad experience conducting and leading analytics research and or the production of official statistics Confidence in using statistical software and programming languages such as R and data manipulation and visualisation A strong understanding of the machinery of government processes that underpin the operations of the public sector environment Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or New Zealand permanent residents How to apply Click on the APPLY button below in order to be directed to our online careers website You may view a position description at this site as well as complete the online application and upload a CV and cover letter For tracking and evaluation purposes all applications must be submitted via our online process Please email Sarah Frost at sarah frost mbie govt nz if you have any further questions quoting reference MBIE1426383 Applications close at 5pm on Sunday the 27th of October 2019
