About the role

Based on the Devonport Naval Base, the Strategic Sourcing Lead is responsible for managing purchasing categories within New Zealand along with supporting Australasia’s cross-sector strategies led by the Category Manager.

You will work with business stakeholders to define business requirements; benchmarking current state performance, through market analysis and undertaking market capability and opportunity analysis.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Implement Babcock’s Category Management model
  • Develop, lead, and execute category plans and sourcing strategies in conjunction with key business stakeholders
  • Ownership of categories unique to the sector and manging local stakeholders
  • Ensure sourcing and recommendations are fit for purpose and cost effective (TCO)
  • Develop and manage subcontracts and supplier agreements in conjunction with the Commercial Team
  • Identification and management of category supply chain risks
  • Lead strategic sourcing and negotiations on high impact complex supply arrangements and contract issues to deliver better outcomes
  • Plan and conduct supplier performance reviews
