    We are looking for a number of experienced Policy Analysts and Senior Policy Analysts to join our dynamic Policy and Implementation Delivery team.

    This is an opportunity to drive implementation of the Essential Freshwater programme to improve freshwater quality and ecosystems in both urban and rural areas across all of Aotearoa New Zealand.

    These roles will play an integral part in a variety of areas from system design, regulation, development and implementation of the freshwater farm plans system, to producing guidance and oversight of national direction.

    This includes scoping and leading key projects to provide tools, support and guidance to the regional sector, iwi and hapū, rural sector and others.

    You will apply innovation, practicality, and collaborative ways of working into policy implementation, embedding a te ao Māori perspective, and building relationships and working with key partners and stakeholders.

    Our ideal candidate will bring :

  • for one of the roles, experience in RM planning, science, or agriculture
  • for one of the roles, an understanding of farming, particularly experience of the agriculture sector
  • demonstrated experience in policy implementation at a national or regional level
  • experience working with tangata whenua, regional councils or the primary sector
  • familiarity with environmental management or freshwater
  • proven experience delivering quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • strong analytical skills
  • a desire to influence and think creatively to achieve results
  • cultural capability in te ao Māori and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi is essential, with a deep understanding required for one of the roles : at the Ministry we seek to bring te ao Māori into all of our work
  • strong engagement skills and ability to effectively build and manage relationships
  • project leadership and mentoring experience.

    Salary ranges :

    Policy Analyst - $73,280 to $89,565 pa

    Senior Policy Analyst - $101,802 to $124,424 pa

    Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
