  • We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly energetic and motivated Engineer who will be responsible for the maintenance of our roading assets covering the northern suburbs.

    The role sits in the Transport Vehicle Maintenance Team, part of the Transport and Infrastructure Business Unit, which play a key role in maintaining the transport functionality of the City.

    You will join a passionate group of professionals responsible for the maintenance and operation of Wellington City's transport assets.

    It is important that these assets are maintained efficiently, and in a safe and functional condition to enable the safe and efficient movement our people.

    In this role, you will support the validation of road maintenance sites, coordinate site clearance with service authorities and prepare & publish the roading maintenance programmes.

    You will work closely with the wider team and other stakeholders to develop engineering solutions, manage budgets and contractors and deal with the public.

    This is an extremely busy and challenging role as you will be responsible for the largest area in the city, the Northern suburbs, so we are really looking for someone who is resilient with sound decision making skills and can take ownership in a team environment.

    Your ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage deadlines on a daily basis will be a key to your success in this role.

    You will be an excellent communicator with awesome people skills which will help you to seamlessly build relationships with a variety of stakeholders including the wider WCC business units, the public, the contractors on site and other service providers.

    We are looking for a solid engineer with prior experience in similar roles; a relevant degree would be beneficial but not a must.

    A current NZ drivers licence is required. It would be great if you have a knowledge and experience in the following areas :

  • Understanding of engineering practice
  • Roading & footpath maintenance, resurfacing and materials
  • Geographical information systems (GIS), preferably Arc
  • Asset management systems (AMS), preferably RAMM
  • You will be a team player who truly understands the value of our transport assets and is motivated to contribute to our vision of 'Working together for Wellington's future.
