Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for a people leader who will be responsible for providing food safety risk assessments and science advice to support risk management and other decisions made by New Zealand Food Safety.Within this role you will :

  • Enable market access for New Zealand's primary products, including food, by providing fit for purpose food safety risk assessments and scientific advice to support risk management decisions made by Food Regulation, and contributing to international standards development
  • Provide leadership and management to all staff within the function by ensuring that robust processes for communication, performance management and learning and development are effectively implemented.
  • Partner with stakeholders to facilitate innovative approaches to grow New Zealand's exports and meet emerging environmental challenges by identifying, advising, and reporting on emerging food safety risks and opportunities
  • Assure the integrity, safety, and reputation of New Zealand's primary products, including food, by providing fit for purpose food safety risk assessments and scientific advice to support risk management decisions made by New Zealand Food Safety.
  • Mōu - About You To be successful in this role you will :

  • Have a higher degree(s) in relevant biological science
  • Experience in people management and development
  • Experience within management level. A track record of successful management of work programmes and staff to deliver in organisational priorities and strategy
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current trends in the international and domestic food regulatory environments
  • High level of presentation, communication and influencing skills with evidence of creating agreements or compromise for goals or new positions of understanding
  • Experience in managing internal and external relationships with an assortment of stakeholders, demonstrated success in building relationships and gaining support and participation of key individuals and groups Ahurea - Culture We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture.
