This position is part of the Nokia NI IP Customer Engineering team in New Zealand with an IP Technical Support and IP Network Integration focus.
The role will be a full member of the NZ IP Technical Support team and provide a key role in providing Nokia’s IP Technical support to key customers throughout New Zealand and the PI region.
Additionally, the successful candidate will augment the Nokia NI project delivery teams to successfully meet Nokia’s customer delivery commitments for IP products and services delivering on current and next generation IP / MPLS technologies through a professional, courteous, and committed approach.
IP / Technical Support Responsibilities Include :
To support customer IP / MPLS networks by providing expert level technical advice to customers and their Operations staff.
The role requires on-call roster duties to provide the contracted 24 / 7 cover for Nokia customers.
To develop and maintain troubleshooting techniques to quickly and accurately identify and isolate issues.
To replicate customer faults in a lab environment to isolate faults and perform in-depth technical analysis.
To gain familiarity with new products to effectively support their introduction into customer networks and constantly seek out new.
Close working relations with both customer and internal product staff is essential.
Primary products types being the Nokia IP Network Elements such as the 7750SR, 7705SAR, 7210SAS and 7250IXR Network Elements as well as the Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP) portfolio of applications including NFM-P.
Project-based work Responsibilities Include :
Primarily will be required to assist in the post sales testing and integration of the Nokia IP / MPLS product portfolio and its associated management systems
As part of the Customer Engineering team, the IP Network Integration Engineer will have in-depth knowledge of the Nokia IP products and technologies.
The IP Network Integration Engineer has the ability to understand the current High Level and Detailed Level Designs and to reflect how these designs will be required to be implemented during the network build phases, providing tasks such as topology diagram updates and specific parameters such IP Address planning, BGP peering, MPLS path planning and management network planning
Key activities required to be performed by this role include : -
Act as the key Integration SME to support the customers and their onboarding activities.
Be able to demonstrate operational experience with testing, integration and deployment activities.
Working under the direction of the Nokia project management and technical management to Implement contracted outcomes
Provide technical support to the testing and validation functions including the execution of tests in agreed failure nodes / areas of likely delivery failure in the customers’ network
Develop solution training materials and conduct solution overview training.
Ensure the safety, service quality and security standards of the existing network during the introduction of new platforms / services.
Preparation of implementation and migration specifications.
Deliver collateral within required timeframes.
Create descriptive documentation for capability provided.
Be accountable for delivering and executing a variety of test strategies, test plans, job aids and other supporting collateral.
Supports the Project Review process with Project Management Groups (e.g. Delivery Management Reviews) and setup corrective action and risk mitigation plans to address technical issues that may arise.
Required Skills and Experience :
Over 3 years’ experience in Telecommunications which must include either Design, Support, Operations of IP networks and management systems.
Experienced with Network or Element Management Systems and (NMS / EMS) and Operational Support Systems (OSS)
In-depth knowledge of network architecture, products, tools, and processes.
Demonstrated experience in hands-on Network Design, Integration / Deployment, technical support, or NPI / FOA.
Experienced on the Nokia IP Router portfolio - 7x50 XRS / SR / SAR / SAS and IXR portfolios
Experience with virtualization concepts and practical application
Knowledgeable on networking concepts and related technologies.
