We’re looking for anEngineering Officer to join the Wellington Flood Protection team, fixed term to30 June 2022. This role is based in our Lower Hutt depot.

About the role :

The Engineering Officer sits in the Operations Planning team. This is ahands on and varied role which will be involved in asset management, health, safetyand wellness systems and also assisting in supporting our new river managementresource consents.

The department is in a period of substantial change in theseareas and Engineering Officer will support the wider Operations team throughthis change.

They will also provide general engineering support in the form ofproject and contract management, managing gravel extraction activities, liaisingwith landowners, and assisting with the operational response in flood events.

Skills and experiencerequired :

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skillsand be able to work collaboratively with others both within and outside ofGreater Wellington.

They will also have projectand construction management experience and a high level of computer literacy.

Youwill also need :

  • A relevant engineering qualification in civilor natural resources
  • Experience with asset management informationsystems, processes and reporting
  • Understanding of resource consent management,compliance and reporting
  • Be self-motivated and have the ability towork without close supervision
