About the Role Kōrero mō te tūranga

The Pest Management Group provides leadership for the pest management part of the biosecurity system and works in partnership with a wide range of organisations across New Zealand to reduce the spread and impact of established pests.

This position will work in the National Wilding Conifer Control Programme, a successful collaboration between central and local government, landowners, farmers, forestry owners, iwi, researchers and community trusts.

In this role you will deliver health and safety advice to programme partners, develop and implement effective health and safety practices in agreed areas to ensure legislative compliance, and lead health and safety practice and culture.

This requires the development of collaborative working relationships across the programme, Ministry for Primary Industries, and external partners.

Core responsibilities for the role :

  • Lead the delivery of new health and safety systems, policies and procedures
  • Provide technical support and coordinate programme participants in their management of Health & Safety.
  • Proactively identify and address risks and emerging issues which could impact on the Programme's ability to deliver.
  • Provide thought leadership and expertise.
  • Monitor and report on the operation and delivery of Safety and Wellbeing to ensure processes and systems are operating effectively.
  • Conduct a programme of health and safety checks to ensure legal compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.

    You will have the ability to develop collaborative partnership-based relationships and the skills to lead, guide and share expertise in health & safety across a programme of work.

    Our ideal candidate will offer :

  • Experience in developing and implementing safety and wellbeing processes, systems and solutions within large and complex organisations.
  • Working knowledge of H&S legislation and of good practice in safety and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of business reporting and data management processes.

    Salary range for this role is $92,073 to midpoint $108,321 depending on skills and experience
