The highly regarded Resource Management and Local Government team at CR Law is in need of a motivated and talented lawyer to support its diverse and growing client base.
This role could be based in Wellington or Palmerston North, with opportunities for flexible working arrangements.
The work in this team encompasses all aspects of local government and resource management and provides opportunity for the right person to work with experienced partners in a supportive environment.
The role will provide exposure in a range of work across resource management and local government areas, including infrastructure and development projects, district and regional planning and policy matters, resource consent applications, building, administrative law, and regulatory matters.
This role needs a lawyer ready to immerse themselves in client files and deliver high quality legal work. The variety and significance of the projects undertaken by CR Law is broad, with the quality of work as good as that you would receive within a City’ firm.
You’ll also have a level of autonomy not offered at all firms, while being supervised by experienced partners. Is this you?

You will be familiar with the rigour of infrastructure projects, plan changes and urban development. You will have experience in writing legal opinions and submissions, with outstanding research skills.
Ideally you will have some understanding of the workings, intricacies and nuances of local government clients and the detail and technical level of the work.
You will need a highly attuned capacity to manage competing priorities and to be able to deliver to strict deadlines with high quality work.
You will enjoy being part of a collaborative and supportive team delivering on major projects that have a tangible impact in the community.
You will have a current NZ practising certificate.
