This is an exciting and career enhancing opportunity for teachers to further develop their professional understanding of Moderation and gain valuable professional development to enhance their teaching and learning for their students.
As a moderator you will have the chance to work with other subject experts to ensure fair, valid and consistent assessment against the standards.
You must understand the principles of standards based assessment and have knowledge of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework and the National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA).
You must have current or very recent recognised teaching and assessment expertise in NCEA Levels 1-3 in your specialist subject area.
Preference will be given to applicants with proven regional or national involvement. Experience in facilitating workshops is desirable.

Selection is based on assessing each applicant’s skills, knowledge, abilities and experience against the role definition for the contract.

Contract and training
The contracts for service may be between individuals and NZQA, or between individual employers and NZQA.
Suitable applicants will be trained prior to confirmation of appointment. Suitable applicants must be available to attend moderator training in Wellington, New Zealand on the 19th of February 2020 prior to being contracted.
NZQA will provide and arrange travel.
Participation in training does not necessarily mean that a contract for services will be offered.
