The primary purpose of
a Sous Chef is to support the Head Chef and lead the team in the absence of the Head Chef. You're a leader, trainer and mentor to all Senior and Junior Chefs as well as Kitchen Hands.
A Sous Chef is a developmental role with the aim to expand on already strong cookery skills, as well as management skills, so as to one day run the kitchen.
Requirements for the role :
A minimum of 4 years experience in a commercial kitchen
Be a leader for Junior Chefs and reliable support for the Head Chef.
Ordering to par levels in Head Chefs absence.
Have an understanding of cost controls for COGs and wages in your kitchen
Always lead your team in striving for excellence in everything that you do
Motivate and lead the team during your shifts
Work in line with the venue and WHGs expectations
Show excellent communication and listening skills for your team and customers
Ensure all operational processes and procedures are adhered to
Ensure FOH and BOH cohesion at all times
Identify potential service issues and act accordingly to avoid them
Handle complaints with empathy and ensure a more than satisfactory outcome for our customers
Always portray a positive attitude, be happy, smiling and having fun!
