    The details : Fixed Term (covering parental leave), 20 hours per week

    We are seeking a Dental Assistant to join the Oral Health Service- Waihi / Whangamata / Paeroa region. This position is fixed term for up to 12 months- covering parental leave.

    The position involves working and on mobile dental and assessment units and fluoride vans and occasionally in a fixed facility in Waihi, Whangamata,Paeroa and Thames and the surrounding areas.

    You will provide assistance with dental care to pre-school and school age children. You need to be competent in using word and excel on computers / laptops.

    Training and orientation is provided on site and through modules. Infrequent training in Hamilton is also provided.

    Dental assistants support and assist oral health and dental therapists in all aspects of care and clinic administration.

    This position is a part time role.

    For this role you must have :

  • A full current driver’s licence.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively
  • Good communication and leadership competency
  • Computer skills
  • Cultural and community awareness
  • Conscientious and reliable
  • Meet the DHB health and safety vaccination criteria
  • Pass police vetting criteria
  • The position would ideally suit someone who has had dental assistant experience or has a work history in office administration, working with children, customer service, Maori health service or health care.

    The policy prescribes the required vaccinations including COVID19 for all employees of Waikato DHB. COVID-19 vaccinations are mandatory before you commence employment.
