Support Worker Child Youth Disability Tauranga Tauranga and surrounding areas residential Who are we NZCare Disability is part of Healthcare of New Zealand and provides services to people with disabilities all across New Zealand our aim being to maximise someones independence and quality of life Come and join our positive supportive team in Tauranga supporting children or youth who live with a physical and or intellectual disability in one of our houses and who have high complex needs Were looking for an experienced Support Worker who is passionate about personcentred care Experience with challenging youth Autism Fads prior experience would be welcome What does a Support Worker do Our Support Workers assist people who access our services to live as independently as possible Support workers are part of a team who work shifts or specific rosters providing 24 7 support including the following Providing personcentred support with all aspects of living including personal cares household duties and meal preparation goal setting Helping children or young people develop skills for daily living Driving to appointments and activities in our disability van medication administration full training provided writing daily reports on a computer What are we looking for Experience supporting at risk youth in a high and complex service with all aspects of daily living which may include personal care showering toileting dressing A warm and friendly personality a reasonable level of physical fitness strength of character and the desire to support others to learn and grow Good listening and observation skills and the ability to follow a tight support plan Ability to confidently and safely transport passengers in our disability van or vehicle A level of resilience as there will be times when you will need to respond to challenging behaviour Ability to be flexible in a team and change your way of working What can we offer you We are committed to our employees and are proud to employ and train the best people in all areas of our organisation We provide a career pathway for staff through the learning and development framework and offer a range from 20 50 25 50 per hour and the opportunity to progress once you have completed our fully funded NZQA training and qualifications So if you are passionate about providing support to a wide range of people and think you would like a career with NZCare then we would like to hear from you M n he tangata ng kaunui ana koe ki te tautoko i ng momo t ngata t n pea kei konei he t ranga m u Tukua mai t tono ki NZCare The right to work in NZ and willingness to undergo Police Vetting and additional Vulnerable Children Safety checking are essential to be considered for this position NZCare Disability is committed to ensuring the good health and wellbeing of its staff and the people they support by operating in a smokefree environment To read a copy of our job description and apply visit our website by pressing the apply now button Applications close 5pm Sunday 4 October 2019
