Support Worker - Rehabilitation

What is the role about?

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Rehabilitation team for enthusiastic and / or experienced Support Workers across the Dunedin area working with a variety of clients.

This role requires someone who is practical and a quick learner; has a high level of initiative to be able to support our clients with Spinal Cord Injuries.

As a Support Worker you will be working one-on-one to enable the client to participate in meaningful activities in the community, support daily living, mobility needs and help them to achieve their independent goals - for us it's about making a difference to the quality of life for the people we support.

We offer full training specific to a clients needs, however if you have already completed NZQA Level 3 or 4 that is an advantage.

We have a variety of shifts working across 7 days and 24 hours, sleep overs and wake overs.

Typical responsibilities include :

  • Complex personal support such as showering, dressing, grooming
  • Use of medical and rehabilitation equipment; with training in its use provided
  • Assistance to get the client out and about in the community
  • Household management including meal preparation, shopping, cleaning for our client
  • We are looking for people with the following skills :

  • Experience hoist / mobility support experience would be an advantageous, but not essential.
  • Empathy for others, and the genuine desire to help people
  • Resilience and tolerance is essential.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including sleepovers.
  • A positive attitude towards personal learning and development of new skills
  • Ability to adapt to various situations while still providing excellent support
  • Full drivers licence required

    50 per hour depending on qualifications. Full time positions available.
