About the Role

This is a permanent opportunity for an Operations Manager in our world-class Converting Plant at the Kawerau Mill.

The Operations Manager - Converting is accountable for delivering the annual business plan of the manufacturing unit to meet the HSE&R, output, costs, operating efficiency and specification requirements of the business.

What You Will Do

Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to the following :

Lead and support the Resource Support Team (RST) and Shift / Line Teams to deliver their individual and collective targets.

lead and promote continuous improvement in quality, safety at work, productivity, reduction in defective goods, develop tissue converting technical mastery and cost reductions to achieve world-class manufacturing principles and practices.

Coach, develop, train and motivate the Converting Frontline Leaders and Team Members through regular feedback and participation in group decisions, open communication and priority setting for salaried staff through Kendo.

active involvement in developing the medium to longer-term improvement and development strategies for the Site’s personnel and equipment.

Who You Are

Graduate Engineering degree or similar tertiary level technical qualification equivalent.

Experience in leading and managing change, coaching and developing people.

Competent in Microsoft suite of products.

Minimum 10 years line management experience gained in a continuous, high volume, multi-grade complex production environment, preferably within an FMCG company.

Maximises efficiency and controls costs in the manufacturing unit and the site.

Uses a variety of leadership styles and influencing approaches to boost team morale, productivity and effectiveness.

Seeks input to thinking and delivery from key stakeholders and considers interdependencies and consequences for others.

Communicates professionally and confidently with the team, customers and other stakeholders.

Challenges team members to develop beyond their comfort zones.

Looks for opportunities and better ways to deliver against set goals and delivers beyond set goals and expectations

Takes ownership for outcomes (success or failure, individual or team) and sets and agrees clear standards of performance for team.

Identifies potential risks; develops and / or implements contingency plans to mitigate.
