  • Perform assurance and audit activities across a wide range of business areas.
  • Undertake performance audit and advisory work in addition to more typical internal audit activities.
  • Take a continuous improvement focus to the work you do.The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA, Te Tari Taiwhenua) is a large government department with a diverse portfolio including anti-money laundering, giving grants and supporting charities, leading the digital transformation of government, and being the guardian of New Zealanders' identity information.

  • You ll be part of a valued Assurance and Audit function within the Te Urungi Organisational Strategy and Performance (OSP) Branch;
  • a small branch with a big job. We provide direction, oversight and leadership across Internal Affairs around risk assurance, project governance, legal services and strategic planning.

    As well as delivering on our core work programme, we are "invited in" to do a range of reviews. We work closely with the Department s organisational risk team and with other corporate functions.

    DIA has plans to continue upgrading its corporate systems over the coming years, and your work will be an invaluable support for that transition.

    You will be a Chartered Accountant with good knowledge of state sector finance and procurement requirements with at least 3 years experience of auditing.

    This role would suit somebody looking to expand their experience through a wider variety of audit and assurance work, or an external auditor seeking the opportunity to apply your skills within an organisation.
