Your Impact :

To meet our growing New Zealand business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for a Senior Hydrologist / Flood Modeller to join our Christchurch team.

The purpose of this role is to lead hydrological and flood modelling projects and to collaboratively work with other disciplines locally and nationally.

The successful individual will have a proven track record and be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of hydrological analysis, flood resilience and modelling across a range of applications.

They will also have the necessary skills to mentor and develop more junior staff, be able to manage their own time and that of others, to play a key role in project delivery and, ideally, have a drive for technical excellence and promoting innovation as well as write proposals for, win and manage both complex and small hydrological projects.

You will support a variety of studies across the water management sector, including flood risk management, reservoir engineering, low flow and water resource studies and environmental impact assessments for projects in the New Zealand and potentially overseas.

Well established within your career you are comfortable with a variety of roles. With well-developed knowledge of Hydrology or flood resilience, you have applied this in supervising, coordinating and supporting of junior staff.

You are proactive and use your initiative to drive projects and are happy to take ownership of technical delivery, client relationships and to contribute to business development and project management.

Enthusiastic about planning and delivering innovative schemes to manage flooding you wish to work on increasingly complex projects and build your skills in project management, business development and leadership.

  • Undergraduate degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geography, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Familiarity with DHI or similar hydraulic modelling software
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent literacy, communication, analytical and numeracy skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
