We are looking for a strong Front-end Developer to join our team based in Ponsonby. You'll be an innovative engineer who is passionate about writing code and unafraid of solving big problems.

You'll bring creative ideas and energy to the team, take some risks, and challenge our thinking.

Who we are & what we do is the flagship website of Stuff Limited, New Zealand's leading media company. Stuff Limited also owns iconic newspaper and magazine titles - including the Sunday Star-Times, the Press and the Dominion Post - as well as Neighbourly and Play Stuff.

Employing more journalists than any other New Zealand media outlet, we cover communities all around the country.

What you'll be doing

  • Work on high impact, high visibility features for our flagship website that connects with over 3 million Kiwis a month!
  • Write code and tests, code reviews, features, bug fixes
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers and designers in an Agile environment
  • Use modern CI / CD practices to deploy to production multiple times per day
  • Work with modern frontend technologies Angular / React / SSR / PWA
  • Build and deploy cloud native services with AWS / GCP / Kubernetes
  • Contribute to the success of the engineering practice and culture
  • What you'll bring

  • Strong web development experience working with Javascript / Typescript and modern frontend frameworks
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies, testing practices and tools
  • Experience working with design patterns, and SOLID principles, and knowing when to apply them
  • Experience with performance optimisation, caching and CDNs would be a bonus
  • Strong communication skills and a great sense of humour
