    This role will lead and improve MIT's student experience through targeted support services and outreach opportunities. Reporting to the Head of Student Experience and Success the Student Support Manager is integral through the provision of effective pastoral care services, wellbeing engagements, outreach support and crisis response for students with a primary focus on supporting MIT's students at-risk.

    The Student Support Manager will oversee the delivery of the following services and activities :

  • Overseeing MIT's Student Support Services to provide excellent pastoral care and outreach support tailored to meet the diverse needs of students, enhancing their capacity, personal resilience, persistence and achievement.
  • A first responder and guide of practical response to crisis or emergency situations on campus ensuring the team is well prepared to respond to a critical incident, crisis, or emergency situation.
  • Working with relevant service teams and campus leaders to guide and support best practice ensuring all concerns and complaints are managed appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating and managing project teams and outcomes through to completion
  • This is a fixed term role until December 2022 requiring an individual with mana and influence who is well networked to lead a team of Student Advisors.

    With a leadership style that brings others along, ideally you will have a background working with students in a similar role and a relevant degree such as Social Work, Counselling, or Education.

    Project management experience is a must along with cultural competency specifically working within a multicultural Maori and or Pasifika context.
