Our Nelson team is currently looking for a Senior Planner. You will work closely with a team of consultants to provide planning input into a variety of multi-disciplinary projects.

This role would suit someone with a minimum of 10 years’ relevant planning experience. This is a great opportunity for a driven and motivated individual to further develop their skills in a successful environmental consulting firm.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Nelson team to :

  • Develop and manage marine consent and resource consent applications.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary projects and / or consent applications.
  • Work on large multi-disciplinary projects providing planning advice in conjunction with other technical disciplines and inputs such as acoustics, oceanography, economics, and environmental monitoring.
  • Build relationships internally and externally with peers, clients, stakeholders and regulators.
  • Continue Business Development throughout New Zealand growing into different sectors and new clients.

    To do this effectively you’ll have :

  • University qualifications (Bachelor Degree or higher) in Planning with a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience.
  • Full membership of the NZPI (or eligibility to apply).
  • Proven capability and experience in managing complex technical projects and coordinating input from other consultants in a clear and concise way.
  • Existing relationships with regulators and clients will be highly regarded.

  • Prior experience managing multi-disciplinary resource consent applications.
  • Proven experience working in the Coastal Marine Area or Exclusive Economic Zone.
  • Prior experience working on projects involved with the oil and gas industry.
  • Broad network of contacts, can use own initiative to contribute towards the success of the team and the business
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • A clean driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to travel domestically to undertake project work, meetings, stakeholder engagement or attendance at hearings.
  • New Zealand citizenship / working rights are essential.
