Auckland Council’s ICT department has an opportunity for a Level 2’ Cyber Security Analyst to join our Operations Security team, which sits in our CFO division.

This critical role as a Senior Cyber Security Analyst will protect Auckland Council against security threats 24 / 7 / 365.

In the role, you will identify emerging threats, and respond to cybercrime and security breach incidents. You will also proactively search for threats and monitor Council’s security status.

You could expect to work on :

Manage the prevention and resolution of security breaches and ensure incident and problem management processes

Assist with cyber threat intelligence gathering and analysis

Conduct and assist with penetration testing, vulnerability scanning and SIEM analysis

Identify new risks & Threats and implement security countermeasures

This role requires at least 3 years’ experience in similar roles, within any of the following areas, ideally from within large and complex organisations.

Information / Cyber Security

SOC / SIEM analyst

Digital Forensics

Threat Hunting

We will be looking for specific experience with :

SIEM (i.e. Splunk, LogRhythm, MS Sentinel)

Performing technical security analysis and report writing

Understanding of security incident management processes and tools

Incident response, SOC / SIEM development and analysis are preferable
