Wellington City, WellingtonPermanentAbout the groupThe Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is the Government's lead advisor on housing and urban development and will deliver the Government's programme to address homelessness, increase public and private housing supply, make existing homes warmer and healthier, make housing affordable for people to rent and buy, and lead quality urban development strategies to create thriving communities.

About the roleThis is a newly established, hands on role within the People and Culture team, focused on implementing our safety and wellbeing programme of work.

You will be responsible for developing, consulting, publishing and reviewing policies and procedures in line with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

You will also support the Safety and Wellbeing Representatives, Committee and the SLT to approve, monitor and report on safety and wellbeing objectives, provide advice and lead programmes of work and maintain the safety and wellbeing framework and management system.

About youYou will have extensive experience in health and safety management and will be comfortable with the hands on requirements that come from a sole charge position.

You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and convey complex information effectively.Your background will include : Strong technical knowledge in a range of specialist health, safety and rehabilitation areasProven track record of implementing safety and wellbeing programmes of workStrong written ability with extensive experience writing and implementing policiesExperience working with and leading engagement groupsDemonstrated ability to compile detailed technical written reportsAbility to use strategic thinking to identify what is important for the management of safety and wellbeing risksExtensive knowledge of risk management principlesComfortable working within an ambiguous environmentKnowledge and experience of incident investigation, rehabilitation and reporting.
