It’s an incredibly exciting time to join PwC as we help our clients create long-term value through the management of environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks, while also helping them make a positive contribution to the environment and society.

A career focusing on ESG as part of our Risk Assurance team will provide you with an opportunity to help support our clients’ in achieving their sustainability goals, regulatory and risk management requirements, and the diverse needs of their critical stakeholders.

As a Manager or Senior Manager working from either our Auckland or Wellington office, you'll work as one of our community of problem solvers, in one of our strategically important growth areas.

Your impact will be felt by :

Leading teams to work on engagements with clients to better understand and assess their key risks to achieving their ESG strategy and goals, including climate related risks.

Partnering with clients to help them mitigate risks, by developing their risk management strategies and internal control frameworks to strengthen their existing controls and processes, such as over sustainability reporting.

Conducting assessments over ESG related processes and controls (relevant to the achievement of organisational goals and / or compliance with standards / regulations) and developing recommendations and roadmaps to drive improvement.

Coaching junior staff and contributing to their professional development and helping with our team’s continued growth.

Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience

Previous experience in enterprise risk management including development and operation of ERM frameworks for risk identification, assessment and reporting.

Strong understanding and experience working with governance and / compliance frameworks, or internal controls assessments.

Hands-on work experience in sustainability, climate change and / or other environmental and social risk management or governance, such as :

Development / operation of initiatives to advance ESG outcomes

Application of sustainability reporting standards

Development of internal processes and controls to enable ESG reporting

Assessments of ESG related frameworks, processes and controls.

Or if you don't have hands on experience in ESG related areas but come from a Governance, Risk or Compliance background, you would need to bring :

A good understanding of the net-zero and science-based targets initiatives landscape, including how to conduct climate risk scenario analysis, and impact measurement.

Familiarity with the current ESG regulatory environments, interest in the future of ESG reporting and the impacts that these may have on companies and their broader stakeholders.

A good understanding of key ESG risks, their causes, consequences and how they may be mitigated.

Awareness of sustainability-related management systems, such as ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 26000, and other systems.
