Our Role

Be part of exciting growth within Consentium, the Kāinga Ora Building Consent Authority (BCA) which provides consenting services exclusively to Kāinga Ora.

The team takes great pride in receiving the Innovator of the Year Award at the recent Excellence Awards.

We have ambitious goals and with our own accredited BCA we can focus on providing homes at pace, leveraging scale and quality.

We target residential and commercial state house builds as well as a comprehensive nationwide retrofit programme with an efficient, paperless, and compliant process.

Reporting to the Building Inspections Team Leader, you will deliver inspection services for highly complex building developments.

Regarded as a key contributor to technical leadership of the Building Consent Authority (BCA) / Inspections Team, this role provides senior technical input and instruction to the Inspections team to enable delivery of completed compliant buildings and drive continued development and improvement.

Your practical and positive approach, combined with relationship management and technical expertise, will support a high performing inspections environment where quality is the continued focus.

There are permanent, full-time roles available in Auckland and Wellington or Christchurch. You will be required from time to time to travel across New Zealand to support inspections in high demand.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

The role needs a significant technical building construction and / or inspections knowledge / expertise at all complexity levels.

Along with a collaborative approach and outcomes focus, the ideal candidate will demonstrate :

  • 5 - 10 years experience in a construction management or building regulatory role
  • 2 - 5 years experience in a building inspections role
  • A relevant building and or design qualification satisfying the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulation 18 requirements
  • Strong and proven commitment to relationship building and working in partnership with key internal stakeholders, the building sector, and other external stakeholders including Iwi
