Reporting to the Director Collection Operations you’ll be responsible for delivering the field collection model for 2023 Census, including the dress rehearsal.
We’re needing a highly skilled operational leader who has a track record of running large operational field teams. The health, safety and wellbeing of your reports and teams will be a top priority, ensuring the work carried out in the field is completed in a safe way, taking steps to mitigate any risks, escalate when necessary and ensure everyone comes home safe and well at the end of each day.
With up to 5000 reports during our operational period, you’ll lead 8 direct reports at Regional Manager level. Those managers will lead 32 Managers and 318 Team Leaders indirectly, all of whom have up to 14 reports each across diverse geographical locations.
Fixed Term up until 30th June 2023. Auckland location is preferred however Wellington would be considered.
Starting salary in the region of $183,471 - $210,000 negotiable depending on the successful applicants experience and pending our finalised job evaluation process.

Your ability to build rapport, connections and relationships will be one of your biggest assets. Your career history may see you serving in the Police or Military environments with plenty of experience in a command and control environment, mitigating health and safety risks for operational activity.
Your ability to bring a strong influential leadership style and work as part of a team at a senior leader and across multiple workstreams will ensure a cohesive operation.
In partnership with our Communication & Engagement workstream, you’ll identify key people in the community and ensure all regions are represented by the right people, on the ground engaging with the New Zealand public.
To successfully do this, you’ll leverage your connections in the community which will be invaluable and create credibility across the field operation.
You’ll be influential in the recruitment of our field staff, working with our third-party vendors while ideally being in Auckland where the largest proportion of our field staff will be situated.
