Due to ongoing growth, we are looking for an Engineering Education Specialist who will help build and roll out education programmes to drive world class engineering at Xero! Who’s the team?

The Standards and Education group provide the foundations, guidance and boundaries to develop world class engineers, delivering technical excellence at Xero.

The group is on a mission to help all Xero engineers ship software safely and often. What’s the role? As the Engineering Education Specialist, you’ll bring with you a strong understanding of modern software development and delivery practices and have the ability to lead cross-organizational initiatives throughout Xero.

We believe having a deep passion for technical education is key and you’ll also bring a thorough understanding of effective education and training methods for engineers and technology teams, including learning styles and approaches.

What you’ll do :

Design, establish, and maintain an education programme for Xero globally, covering our preferred technologies, platforms, and standards.

Design and delivery of a range of education, training and facilitation activities either directly or through engaging external specialists where appropriate.

Work with technical specialists across multiple disciplines to understand and prioritize opportunities for growth and develop programs to grow skills and knowledge.

Develop and maintain relationships with product & engineering leadership, subject matter experts, enablement teams, and Communities of Practice.

Maintain feedback loops between S&E, training producers, and training consumers, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Prioritise training and education initiatives in alignment with Technology priorities.

Measure and report on the takeup and effectiveness of education initiatives.

Champion learning and improvement, promoting the education programme internally and externally.

Develop and maintain relationships with external training providers.

Ensure that the delivery of the training programme uses the most effective learning techniques and the right balance of self-directed and facilitated learning.

Participate in external education and training communities to keep up to date with industry practice and trends.
