CarbonWatch-NZ : Auckland's Carbon Emissions
GNS Science, Te Pū Ao, occupies a unique place in New Zealand's science landscape. We have a strong heritage of producing world-leading earth, geoscience and isotope research.
This, coupled with people who are passionate and committed, means we are more focused than ever before on bringing our vision of a cleaner, safer, more prosperous New Zealand to life.
We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist to work on CarbonWatch-NZ Auckland urban emissions. Our project aims to use atmospheric measurements and atmospheric and process modelling of CO2, 14CO2 and ancillary trace gases and isotopes to understand the sources of CO2 in Auckland and how they are changing.
The successful candidate will work within our research team on development and maintenance of four sampling sites in Auckland with in situ CO2 / CH4 / CO and flask sampling systems measuring 14CO2, CO2, CO, CH4 and COS.
This will include field deployment and maintenance of equipment, flask analyses for multiple species, and extensive data analysis to interpret the results.
There will be opportunities to be involved in process and transport modelling, and to link to related projects including the larger CarbonWatch-NZ project and ongoing urban studies in Indianapolis and other cities.
