Health & Safety Manager
The Mitre 10 brand is part of the DNA of New Zealand DIY with many customers having grown up with the brand originally launched in New Zealand in 1974.
With the opening of the first MEGA store in 2004 we have kept up a steady growth and you can be part of our continuing success by joining the team at Mitre 10 MEGA New Plymouth Trade is an integral part of our business and we’re looking for someone with the passion to continue to ensure our store is the leading trade and home improvement destination / supplier for everyone from the home DIYer to the large construction company.
We are now seeking applicants for the challenging and demanding role of Health & Safety Manager someone who has the ability to take on the responsibility for driving the health and safety performance of our group of stores.
A tertiary qualification in Health & safety would be preferable
Proven experience in a management role is required.
You will be someone who can implement excellence in Health & Safety, team leadership and exceptional operational standards.
As the face of our Health & safety team, the successful candidate will be responsible promoting and expanding our safety regime within the group.
This position involves maintaining relationships with existing clients as well as acquiring new clients.
Leading a team of people to service all the many customers of the MEGA Store will be an exciting challenge for the successful candidate in this role.
This role would be an excellent opportunity for a results driven, self-motivated individual who can provide the highest level of customer service.
Candidates would need to demonstrate outstanding leadership, numerical skills, competency in MS applications, communication, planning, organisational and excellent time management skills.
Flexibility, initiative, attention to detail as well as a dynamic sales ability are other desirable skills we are seeking.
You will need :
Tertiary Health & Safety qualification is mandatory for this Post
Passion for health & safety
Current working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work act
Current experience in health and safety environment
Current understanding of ACC & return to work procedures
Be dedicated to educate, enhance and enforce Health & Safety breaches & issues
Be able to investigate issues
Be comfortable dealing with senior management
Be comfortable compiling reports for governmental bodies eg : Worksafe, MBIE, ACC & WINZ as required
Prepare audits for external examiners and adjudicators
Be able to guide senior management through the H&S maze of legislation, updates, audits
This is a 7 day a week business and a management roster is in place requiring some weekend work on a monthly roster.
