With no two days alike, the Cluster Director of Human Resources is accountable for the entire spectrum of Human Resources activities across a number of Hilton properties in New Zealand.

This role reports directly to the Cluster General Manager and will head up the Human Resources function at Hilton Auckland whilst providing expert guidance and support to the hotel Human Resources teams in your portfolio.

What will I be doing?

The Cluster Director of Human Resources is responsible for creating the most hospitable workforce in New Zealand by ensuring HR leaders across your portfolio of hotels drive high levels of team member engagement through the implementation of effective recruitment practices, rigorous succession planning, talent management plans, learning and development activities, performance management processes, an effective compensation and benefits framework, and employee relations initiatives.

The Cluster Director of Human Resources will have extensive involvement in spearheading all employee relations and industrial relations activities and will have the opportunity to localise and embed a number of Global Human Resources activities throughout the year that reflect the company vision, values and brand cultures.

You will act as first point of contact for the hotel Human Resources teams to escalate high level and complex workforce management problems and provide top tier support to each hotels Human Resources function.

What are we looking for?

A Cluster Director of Human Resources serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members.

To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow :

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a Senior Human Resources Management / Director position.
  • Strong Industrial Relations experience and knowledge of New Zealand employment law.
  • Extensive background in executing team member engagement, recruitment and learning and development activities.
  • A collective approach to solving complex issues with high level of ability to influence across the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and conflict, and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent leadership skills and exceptional communication skills with an ability to connect with people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated high level coaching skills.
  • A customer service approach to human resources & excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A Degree level qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • It would be advantageous for you to demonstrate the following capabilities : previous human resources management experience in the hotel, hospitality, leisure, and / or retail sector.
