Benefits

This role provides the opportunity to operate within a PPP environment, which is currently a rare occurrence in New Zealand.

In terms of scope and service provision this role also presents a unique challenge within the context of the roads industry in New Zealand.

You will be joining a business who are heavily focused on growth, and success on this project could put us in a good position for upcoming projects in the region and consequently present opportunities for you to build and develop your career.

You will be leading an engaged and united team and taking over a healthy client relationship which is characterised by open and honest dialogue.

The Project and the Team

Ventia have embarked on a unique 25 year public private partnership with the NZTA to provide maintenance and operations services on the new Transmission Gully Motorway in Wellington.

The 27 Kilometre, 4 lane motorway which opens to traffic later this year, connects with State Highway 1 at the existing Mackays Crossing interchange and merges with the current State Highway at Linden.

Our team have been developing plans and preparing for mobilisation for several years, and in that time have developed a culture of collaboration, openness, inclusiveness, and cooperation.

We are excited about the unique opportunities this project presents for our people to grow and develop and are determined to deliver a high standard of service to our client and the public who use the motorway.

You will first and foremost be an inclusive leader who can maintain and further enhance the culture of collaboration and togetherness that has been built within our Transmission Gully team.

You will have a strong service focus and preferably have come from an environment that has equipped you to understand the dual service requirements of interfacing with the public and delivering a service solution to a client organisation.

You don’t necessarily need to have come from a roads or transport background, but ideally you will have operated in a lead person’ role in the maintenance and operations of a significant asset or portfolio of assets from the infrastructure, utilities or facilities management industries.

You will need a strongly collaborative and diplomatic management style as your success will largely depend upon your ability to foster and leverage great relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

You will have leadership experience from a high-risk safety environment and be a champion of a strong safety culture. Previous exposure to a PPP style contract will be advantageous.

The Role

Reporting to the National Operations manager for Transport in New Zealand, you will lead a team of roughly 20 people including 5 direct reports.

You and your team will follow a well-developed asset management plan and deliver maintenance and operations services on the motorway including incident response and traffic management.

You will ensure excellent levels of service to our client and the public within a unique performance regime and build strong relationships with internal services teams (P&C, finance, procurement, etc.

You will ensure that your team are equipped to succeed in their roles and provide any necessary training and development.

You will also contribute to the growth of the Ventia Transport division in New Zealand as a member of the operations leadership group and as an SME for bids and work winning efforts when required.

The Company

As one of ANZ’s leading infrastructure and services companies, Ventia offers outstanding career opportunities and scope to develop your skills and leadership experience across multiple service lines and geographies.

Operating across the infrastructure, telco, transport, and defence sectors, we are a diverse and growing business offering a dynamic and challenging environment, with a breadth of service offering rarely found in a single organisation.

We acknowledge the importance of our people’s diverse experiences, talents and cultures. Embracing diversity and creating inclusion is a key component of our talent strategy.

The creation of a diverse, inclusive workforce is central to our ability to unlock potential and enhance our success.
