  • Great opportunity to gain experience in public law
  • Excellent mentoring and collaborative team
  • Inclusive and supportive firm culture
  • Simpson Grierson's Wellington office has an opportunity for a year 2-3 solicitor to join the public law team, which is part of the litigation group.

The team is led by Sally McKechnie and is a tight-knit group, who work closely together. In this team, you will get the benefits of working in a top tier, full service law firm, while also having the hands-on involvement offered in a smaller team.

You will be exposed to a wide range of work, have frequent opportunities to attend client meetings, and gain in-depth experience working on matters directly with Sally.

The team is focused on problem-solving and giving pragmatic advice. Clients include large commercial entities, Ministries, Crown entities, religious institutions and other public and private organisations.

As part of the litigation practice at the firm, you will also advise clients on a range of dispute resolution processes.

As a public law specialist team we appear regularly in the courts and in the Royal Commission on Abuse, so there are plenty of junioring opportunities.

Ideally you will have 2-3 years' PQE. We are looking for someone smart and switched on, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.

In this role you'll receive mentoring and support from an inclusive, collaborative team alongside the outstanding professional development Simpson Grierson offers.

We are proud of our diverse and inclusive culture and our reputation for putting people first in everything we do.
