    As Principal Pavements and Road Maintenance Advisor, you will take a lead role in delivering quality pavement construction and pavement surfacing.

    Working closely with the Maintenance and Operations Group, you will monitor the quality of construction activities in the field and ensure these activities are linked to quality assurance documentation and requirements.

    Given the nature of the role, you will be on the road frequently, evaluating critical phases of construction to ensure compliance, as well as identifying and reporting on any deviation from the design.

    You will also monitor and manage key supply-chain relationships and ensure materials and the quality of pavement surfacing is compliant.

    Alongside maintaining complete and accurate records of materials and construction, you will help lift team capability and improve reporting and records management.

    You will lead by example through your demonstrative experience and knowledge of supply-chain management, materials knowledge and build quality and records management.

    You will work alongside others to enhance their understanding and knowledge of maintenance and operations and improve on existing construction standards and practices.

    To be successful in this role, you will bring :

  • Significant field experience in delivering pavement and surfacing works
  • Competent and demonstrated understanding in the application of ISO systems and the ability to audit against these standards
  • Ability to cross-examine contractors' systems to incentivise and improve performance
  • Civil Engineering Qualification Diploma or equivalent
  • To be considered for the role you must hold a current and valid New Zealand Driver's License (or equivalent).

    You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

    You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
